Executive Action — or Overreach?

U.S. President Obama arrives for MSNBC/Telemundo town hall discussion on immigration at Florida International University in MiamiFlorida International University (FIU) — While speaking at a Town Hall event in Miami, President Obama made a few disturbing statements that should cause the hairs on the back of any American’s neck to stand up (More on that later).

The purpose of this event was to discuss the President’s recent executive action on illegal immigration that would grant millions of illegal aliens within the country numerous rights, privileges, and benefits that were initially afforded only to Legal citizens.

Although many constitutional scholars feel that this was a heinous executive overreach that violates Obama’s constitutional authority — The President stands firm, insisting that he has the authority to make this unilateral decision (despite [continuously] admitting that he does not).

Don’t believe it? Check this out.

However one thing that I would like to point out to readers is that you have to be careful not to be swept away with all the heart-wrenching stories that this administration often paints in order to demonize Republicans and Conservatives as well as the American legal-system.

Far too often, those who oppose Executive amnesty (mostly Republicans and conservatives) are depicted as racist rich white guys who only want to gobble-up all of the money from the poor and leave them with nothing but a glass of Ice water in the Winter snow.

This is a common stereotype, especially in the African American Community.

I must admit that even I too bought into this ideology. With no political education, I was only 15 years old yet I knew that I liked Democrats because Republicans were racist. (Thanks to Liberal Media)

It wasn’t until I got older that I stopped believing what everyone Said was going on and actually started looking for myself.

But that is a story for another day.

In regards to President Obama’s executive action on Illegal immigration…

Allen West, (A black Conservative Christian) puts it like this…

“I find it truly unconscionable that we have an American president who fails to understand our system of three coequal branches of government, separation of powers, and checks and balances. The system of governance for our Constitutional Republic stresses that the branch with the most enumerated powers is the legislative branch. And the executive branch executes the laws passed and signed by the legislative branch — meaning we have a legislative process — governance as granted by the consent of the governed — not rule by edict or executive order.”

Continuing…

“Law and policy come from the prescribed legislative process as outlined in our U.S. Constitution, our rule of law. Law and policy does not come from a president who wants his political way — and so it is with the topic of illegal immigration.”

One important thing to note is this, Illegal Immigration is called ‘Illegal’ for a reason.

When a person migrates to America without taking the proper steps, whether they realize it or not — They are harming Americans. (Learn More)

However, the issue with immigration is not whether or not it is a good thing to do, the question is whether or not the President can openly defy Constitutional boundaries and unilaterally create his own laws (even IF he thinks he has  a good reason).

The answer to the question presented in the previous passage is ‘No’.

The President cannot defy the Constitution under any circumstances, Good or Bad. If the President can defy the constitution if he has a good reason, what is to stop him from doing so if he has a bad reason?

Furthermore, who decides what a ‘Good Reason’ looks like?

It is a slippery slope, one that we would be better off not walking on.

America: Transforming into a ‘Mon-ar-cracy’?

US-POLITICS-OBAMA-IMMIGRATIONThe difference between a Monarchy and a Democracy is that in a Monarchy, The King rules the people. They have absolutely no say nor power over what happens in the Kingdom.

If the King arose one day and decided to kill every person who has blue-eyes, there would be absolutely nothing anyone can do to stop him. The King’s word is final.

In our Democracy however, The King (President) is ruled by The People.

The King does not make the laws, instead the People elect officials (Congress) who then make laws on their behalf to represent the things that they want.

(Remember that old saying… “We The People, of the United States…” )

However, by abusing Executive Order — President Obama is attempting to create Laws, which if allowed would fundamentally challenge the entire notion of our Democracy.

America would become a Monarcracy (Monarchy + Democracy )

(I just used executive-order to make that word up, But don’t tell Congress)

Obama’s ‘Legal’ Immigration:

5

When speaking to the host about his executive immigration action, The President stated…

“And in the meantime, what we said to Republicans is, instead of trying to hold hostage funding for the Department of Homeland Security, which is so important for our national security, fund that, and let’s get on with actually passing comprehensive immigration reform.”

Before pointing fingers at Republicans, allow me to explain the truth behind this statement and not just the President’s misleading effort to blame his opposition.

In an attempt to stop the President from defying his constitutional authority, Congress is using the powers granted unto it by the US Constitution — The Power of the Purse.

Because Congress is in control of the monetary income of the U.S. government, they have withheld funds in order to stop the President’s executive decree and prevent him from abusing his Presidential Authority.

dhsAs a result, The DHS (Department of Homeland Security) did not having funds to continue its operations because their funding was tied within the President’s executive amnesty bill.

In order to keep the DHS up and running long enough to challenge The President’s executive action, Congress granted an extension that allowed for the Department to continue operating at its most basic levels.

However The President has went on a ‘media bash’ campaign blaming Congress for simply doing its job — ‘Checking’ the Executive branch in order to ensure the ‘Balance’ of power remains consistent with Constitutional expectations (Checks and Balances).

Of course, President Obama does not liked being ‘Checked’ or challenged.

However, in the Interview the President went as far as to announce to Republicans that if they so much as even attempt to vote-on or question his authority or the legality of his executive order on immigration, he would simply Veto their vote.

Stating…

“So in the short term, if Mr. McConnell, the leader of the Senate, and the Speaker of the House, John Boehner, want to have a vote on whether what I’m doing is legal or not, they can have that vote.  I will veto that vote, because I’m absolutely confident that what we’re doing is the right thing to do.  (Applause.)”

Honestly, since when can the President decide to defy the Constitution simply because he thinks that doing so is ‘Right’?

Is it just me or is he beginning to sound DICTATORish?
