Technology: ‘Ghost Rider’ in the Skies

As Technology continues to advance, I can’t help but wonder whether the technological advancements we are seeing today be used to benefit mankind, or to deceive the masses.

According to reports, Scientists managed to cause a ‘Green ghost rider’ to appear in the clouds over a British city while testing a newly developed projecting device which is capable of projecting moving images directly onto the clouds.

The image of the ‘ghost rider’ was projected onto the the clouds from roughly 50 meters by a special laser-based projection system that was securely mounted onto an aircraft.

The laser-system was created by a Research team calling itself Project Nimbus.

The team is mostly comprised of 2 people, a Designer (Dave Lynch) and a Chemist (Dr. Mike Nix) who are both from the University of Leeds. The stated goal is to be able to project an actual movie into the clouds from the ground.

“Project Nimbus is the exploration of digital and analogue techniques to project moving images onto clouds from the ground, sea level and aircraft including planes, paragliders and hot air balloons,” the researchers explain on their website.

The idea of such a device reportedly came to Dave Lynch while he was working on achieving his master’s Degree.

Lynch reportedly stumbled across a military paper on the Vietnam war that described in detail how ‘Sky projections’ were used as a psychological weapon against the Vietnamese.

Inspired by the idea, Lynch decided to start his own experiments in 2007. Unfortunately the project soon failed due to lack of funding and resources.

In 2012, he returned to experimenting after he received funding from the AND festival and the arts incubator Octopus Collective, New Scientist reports.

EDITOR’s NOTE: “This project was done by the independent research firm known as Project Nimbus — Unfortunately, what they are probably unaware of is that this technology has already been developed and perfected. However it has yet to be publicly released. It is almost as if it is being ‘held’ for a special purpose. However in an upcoming post, we intend to shed some light into what the ‘purpose’ could possibly be — But Here is a HINT“.
